Why Dr. Michael Northcutt made this kit

“The free chart was fine. It just didn’t know my house had three people and one puppy.”

I’m a big fan of free stuff. When our puppy came home, I downloaded every free chart I could find from the big pet sites. A potty chart. A feeding chart. A supply checklist. I printed them all and felt very organized for about a day.

By day five, I noticed something. The potty chart didn’t say who was supposed to take her out at noon. It didn’t say when she should nap. It didn’t say what to do at 2 a.m. And it sure didn’t stop two of us from each thinking the other one had done the 9 p.m. trip.

The free sheets were like puzzle pieces from different puzzles. Each one fine on its own. None of them fit together.

So I taped three of them together on the fridge and scribbled all over them. Arrows. Names. “WHO?!” in the margin. It worked, sort of. It also looked like a ransom note.

Standing there with the tape in my hand, I finally got it. What I needed wasn’t more information. It was a system. When she wakes, eats, goes out and naps, who’s on duty, and what we do at night. All on a few pages. All in one place.

If one free chart is all you need, wonderful. Use it. But if you catch yourself writing “WHO?!” in the margins, you don’t need another chart. You need the pieces connected, on one sheet the whole house can read.

Questions before you buy

Is this a physical product?

No. It’s a digital download. You get it right after checkout and print it at home on US Letter paper.

I don’t have a printer. Can I still use it?

The PDF has fillable fields, so you can type instead of printing. Use a PDF reader that supports saving form entries. Save a test copy and reopen it to confirm your entries remain; browser and phone previews can behave differently.

Is there an app or a subscription?

No. You pay $24 once. There’s also an optional phone log that opens in Google Sheets or Excel.

How long can a puppy hold its pee?

The American Kennel Club rule of thumb: age in months plus one gives the longest stretch in hours. About 1 hour per month of age is a more comfortable stretch. Each schedule prints that number at the top.

Will it potty train my puppy?

We won’t promise that. Every puppy is different. The kit gets everyone doing the same thing at the same times.

What if my partner or kids won’t use it?

That’s why it lives on the fridge, not in an app nobody opens. Page 10 gives every helper their own boxes by day, and the log asks for initials after every trip. A missing entry means you need to check with the helper, not assume the trip did or did not happen.
